James was born in Oakdale, Louisiana, and later his family moved to Jackson, Mississippi. He was in sales with Bellsouth and ATT before he retired. He loved music and later formed his own band, he was the drummer.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn, his son, Jamie, brother, Charles and sister, Dorothy.
They had 3 children, Patrice Blackmon (Dolphus), Jamie (deceased) and Joanne Novinger (Terry). James had four grandgirls and 5 great.
James and Dianne met in 2011 and married in 2012. They enjoyed doing things together and worked hard as publishers of the Senior Resource Guide for 11 years. They did not let work keep them from having fun and traveling. They had fun wherever they went.
His stepchildren by Dianne live in Milton. Stepson, Jody Foster (wife, Kim) and Michele Brown (husband, Jason). 3 Step-Grandchildren and 1 Step-Great-Granddaughter.
James never met a stranger, loved fried chicken and loved keeping his cars clean. He will be missed.
A celebration of James' life will be held at 11am on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Bagdad Methodist Church.
