James Witt

James"Jim" Witt, from Pensacola, Florida passed away at the age of 85 on Friday, September 13, 2024. Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jetta Witt, two children, Mike Witt (Christine) and Cheryl Eads (David) and three grandchildren, Joseph Eads (Maddie), Lindsey Eads and David Witt, plus several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim is preceded in death by his father, Burgess Witt, his mother, Hazel Witt, and his sisters, Patsy Ely and Mary Dondlinger.

Born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Jim was raised on a dairy farm and they moved to Derby, Kansas when he was 15 years old. Jim attended Emporia State College and graduated with an Education degree in American History, BA.

Jim went to work for Boeing Aircraft in 1962 and soon after he met and married Jetta Reed in 1964. Jim and Jetta moved with their two children to Columbus, Georgia in 1972, where he worked for Columbus Foundry for 19 years in Customer Service, Truck lines and Production Control. Jim was promoted to Director of Customer Service for Intermet Foundries until 1991. Jim accepted the Production and Quality Control position at Citation in Brewton Alabama while living in Pensacola, Florida.

Jim and Jetta are born again Christians and regularly attended Wilde Lake Church. Jim served the Church in various committees and often talked about the "Wilde Bunch" of friends. Jim liked being an usher and trustee and some might say more than he liked golfing and reading.

Jim retired in 2007 after working for 45 years. In retirement, Jim was able to spend more time at Church and the golf course.

Jim took care of the lawn maintenance at Wilde Lake, often spending hours edging and trimming bushes. Jim had the unique ability to remember the layout of each golf course he played. As much as he enjoyed golf, his true love was always his first love, Jetta. Jim believed Jetta was a gift from God and blessed him for over 60 years.

A Memorial Service will be held at Wilde Lake Church on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 11:00 am. The Visitation will be at 10:00 am, prior to the Service.
