

Janice Anita Adams Ruymann, 81, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, in Pensacola Florida. She was the beloved widow of John William Ruymann, with whom she shared 16 devoted years of marriage filled with love, loyalty and adventure.
Born on September 23,1944 in Pensacola, Janice was the daughter of Sallie Irene McCart Adams and Joel Shafter Adams Sr. She attended Escambia High School and graduated from Pensacola Technical High. Throughout her life, Janice worn many hats with grace and strength. In the early 1960s, she worked as a store clerk on downtown Palafox Street before marrying the love of her life in 1963.
As the wife of a military serviceman during the Vietnam era, Janice built a home and family wherever life took them-- from Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, to Oceanside California, Washington, D.C., Glenview, Illinois and eventually back to Pensacola, where their story first began. Through every move and every season of life, she remained a loving mother, devoted wife, caring daughter and steadfast friend. Later in life, she co-owned The Fashion Tree Boutique alongside her nephew's wife, sharing her love for fashion and community with others.
Janice was active in the Officers' wives club throughout the years and cherished the friendships she made along the way. She found joy in traveling, gardening, painting and collecting antiques, she had a special gift for making a house feel warm and welcoming. Her quiet strength, kindness, and
unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Ruymann-Wells (John); her granddaughter, Chelsea Rose Ruymann-Wells and several loving nieces, nephews, cousins and second cousins.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John William Ruymann; her parents, Sallie Irene McCart Adams and Joel Shafter Adams Sr.; her brothers Joel Shafter Adams Jr. and William Hulen Adams; and sisters Shirley Adams Grim and Edna Faye Farrington.
A visitation will be held at Oak Lawn Funeral Home on June 2,2026, from 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. leading to the committal service at Barrancas National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
