

Jesse Carl Broome, 85 of Pensacola (Beulah Area) died February 1, 2026, with family by his side at his daughter’s home in Milton, Florida. He was born in Rocksprings, GA on 15 July 1940 and settled in Pensacola in 1973. He began his military life at the age of 16 (1956) as a sailor deep in the engine room of aircraft carriers. He left the Navy in 1959 and tried civilian life doing all things construction. In June of 1960, he joined the US Coast Guard and then in 1964 he tried civilian life again only to reenlisted in the US Coast Guard in 1969, then separated due to medical retirement in 1973. He then moved to Pensacola, Jesse retired from Civil Service on Pensacola, Naval Air Station in October 1994, with over 20 years as an electrical worker.
During his civilian life he was a jack of all trades: construction, vehicle mechanic, electrician, delivery truck driver and more. He loved the woods, bow hunting was a passion, all bows from the long bow to compound bow. He did hunt with guns but the bows were what he preferred. He enjoyed playing poker with friends and sometimes at the casinos in Biloxi.
He met and married Marjorie (Perron) in 1957. They met on the Mississippi River Ferry from New Orleans to Algiers. Both were 16 when married, not always easy but love won every time. They have been together for over 68 years, during his military life and civilian life, they endured a lot of traveling throughout the US and adventures that are hard to imagine. They both say; “they had the Love of their Life until the end.”
Preceding Jesse in death are his parents, Ray Broome and Dorothy (Simpson) Broome; and his brother, Edwin Broome.
Jesse is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie Broome of Pensacola; daughters, Mary Darville of Pensacola and Patricia (Robert) Catone of Milton; sisters, JoAnn Gravitt of Fort Oglethorpe, GA and Linda Underwood of Madisonville, LA; grandkids, Johnny (Jodi) Stokes, Jennifer (Wayne Strops) Stokes, Summer Darville, Erin (Curtis) Stephens, and Sarah Darville. He was also blessed with eight great-grand kids and eight great-great grands under the age 10. A loving family filled with cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 09, 2026 at Eastern Gate Funeral Home, with services following at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery with military honors.
