Joseph James Bennett, preferably referred to as Joey Kaza, was born May 10, 2003, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. Sadly, his life ended at the very same hospital on August 28, 2025, due to an automobile accident.
He was born to Tina Lee Handrahan and James Albert Bennett and thus gifting Triston Bennett her precious baby brother!
Preceding Joey in death were his maternal grandmother, Elly Ann Cozart, in 1999, and paternal grandmother, Mary Bennett, in 2019.
Joey is survived by his fiancé Irielle “Irie” Touzet and their precious unborn daughter "Joey Kaza Touzet"; mother, Tina Lee Handrahan (Patrick Shawn Handrahan, Jr); father, James Albert Bennett (Stefanie Bennett); siblings, Triston Bennett (Tina), Rylie Smith (Stefanie) and Paisley Bennett (James and Stefanie); maternal grandfather, Donald Cozart; paternal grandmother, Grace Bennett; great aunt, Laura Balken; maternal aunt, Colleen Cozart; paternal uncle, Mark Bennett; paternal aunts, Angel Thompson and Kari Bennett. Also surviving Joey are several step-grandparents and so many cousins, and a multitude of friends that we couldn’t possibly list, but they are still so very important.
Joey was a very kind and loving man who blessed everyone with his smile and sincere demeanor, and heart. He loved music, drawing, art, working on cars, Xbox, and being with Irie and his best bud, Kevin (McAllister) his cat.
His life will be celebrated at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway, on Sunday, September 14, 2025. Visitation will be held at 1 pm, and a Celebration of Life to follow at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for participation in Baby Kaza’s future, beginning with their registry. Any help will be greatly appreciated. On social media, you will find the GoFundMe set up as well.
Please note that all funeral arrangements are fully paid, and any donations are for the future of Baby Kaza, as Joey would have wanted.
