It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Donald Myers (Joe) of Cantonment, Florida on Friday March 20th, 2026 at the age of 79. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on August 15th, 1946 in Greenville Pennsylvania, where he grew up with his mother, Pearl Elizabeth Cambell (Myers), father, Joseph Wilbur Myers, and siblings, Bob, Bev, and Rich.
Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years, Karen Darlene Myers; his son Michael Myers and his wife Sekola Myers, and their children, Donato Myers, Deanna Myers, Danielle Myers; his daughter Sherri Hinton, and her children Stephanie Hinton and Rebecca Hinton; and his daughter Michele Hartney and her husband Jeff Hartney, and their children Haley Hartney and Nathaniel Hartney.
He joined the Marine Corps on May 14th, 1964 and served in the Vietnam War. He separated from the service in May of 1967 at the rank of Corporal. Upon returning to Pennsylvania, he married his wife, Karen on September 28, 1968 and they started their family together.
The family then moved south to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where they lived and worked for 19 years. Joe owned and operated a Texaco during this time as his first business venture before relocating with his wife to Pensacola, Florida. He went on to own and operate Superior Automotive, a paint, body, and mechanic shop with his daughter Sherri for 20 years in the local Pensacola community.
Joe and Karen spent their time together actively involved in their church, Hillcrest Baptist, going to car shows, and visiting with their children and grandchildren across the country. Joe took great pride in helping everyone in his life; they could always depend on him to make sure the job was done right. His sense of humor and comedic timing will be missed by all who knew him. He spent his life bringing laughter, warmth, and love to his family and loved ones.
A funeral will be held Thursday March 26th, 2026 at 10 am for visitation and the service at 11 am to celebrate his life at Dignity Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens Funeral Home at 1985 West 9 Mile Road, Pensacola, Fl.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church in Joe’s name at “Hillcrestchurch.com”.
