

Julie was born to Robert and Joyce Stratton on November 28th, 1983 at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. Julie attended Brookfield Academy and graduated high school in 2002. She enjoyed playing basketball and field hockey in her adolescence. Following graduation, she moved to Pensacola and attended University of West Florida until 2006.
Julie worked for the Department of Juvenile Justice for 17 years. She also worked for Families First Network for 15 years. During her career, she dedicated her time and energy to serving others. Julie was involved in countless community events that served children, youth, families, and the elderly. A few of the organizations that Julie personally impacted were Pensacola Boys Base, Children’s Home Society, United Methodist Children’s Home, Lutheran Services, Lakeview Center, Council on Aging of West Florida, Ronald McDonald House, TLC Caregivers, Escambia County School District, Department of Children and Families, Escambia County Community Centers, City of Pensacola Community Centers, AMI Kids, Yes we can Pensacola, Loaves and Fishes, Waterfront Mission, Camelot, Pensacola Greek Festival, Goodwill Easter Seals of the Gulf Coast, On Bikes Pensacola, Village Hands, I Support the Girls, Village Hope Transitional Home, Accelerating Futures, and ARC Gateway. During the past two decades, Julie also mentored several foster care youth who had little to no family or support. As a GED tutor, driving instructor, employment coach, Julie helped her kids get their first jobs, get their driver’s license, move into their first apartments, and enroll in college or vocational school. She was their friend, support system, surrogate mom, cheerleader, advocate, and voice of reason and hope.
Julie enjoyed hosting barbecues to gather friends and family. She was an amazing cook, known fondly as the “Pampered Chef”. Julie loved to play tennis and basketball. Julie was an animal lover, she rescued several dogs over the years and treated them as her children. Julie has been a foster aunt for the past 4 years. When her sister, Jenny, decided to become a foster parent, Julie whole-heartedly supported this endeavor. She provided unconditional love and support, stepping in to help at a moment's notice whenever needed.
Julie passed away at the age of 37 on August 15, 2021 in Pensacola, Florida. She left this earth to have a joyous reunion with her loved ones in Heaven. Julie was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Stratton. She is survived by her Father Robert, Step-Mother Nancy, Sister Jenny, Sister-friend Eunicia and a large extended family. She will be greatly missed!
