

She is survived by her sons, Richard Holtzclaw, Thomas A. Holtzclaw, and Leslie L. Holtzclaw; three grandchildren, Dylan Michael, Darrian Elizabeth, and Austin Thomas Holtzclaw. LaRue is preceded in passing by her husband of almost 51 years, Richard T. Holtzclaw.
After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree, LaRue began her career as a teacher in several school systems, following her husband to new cities. The majority of her teaching career she spent in Savannah, GA and Pensacola, FL.
Throughout her life, LaRue was known for many things; she was an extremely talented cook and enjoyed baking for her family. She also truly had a knack for creativity - and was a skilled seamstress for herself and others, quilting, creating beautiful artwork out of shells and crafting, as well as restoring antiques that needed to be brought back to their original beauty. LaRue was also known for the landscaping of her yard; she loved tending to her hydrangeas and taking meticulous care of her shrubs; she was a part of the Garden Girls with the Garden Center for many years. Through it all, she was strong in her faith and was an active member at St Luke United Methodist Church, where she served in the Altar Guild.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 11, at 11:00am at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway. The family invites friends and extended family to gather before her service, from 10:00-11:00am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation the Memorial Board at St Luke United Methodist Church, Pensacola, FL.
