August 18, 1943 - October 22, 2025
Jimmie received his angel wings on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Jimmie grew up loving the outdoors. He was always more interested in hunting and fishing than school. However, after only a few weeks in the Army, he said all he did was go to school.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army when he was only 17 years old and did his basic training at Ft. Benning, Georgia. He chose to become a combat engineer, following in his Dad's footsteps. His favorite duty stations were the two tours at Schofield Barracks in Honolulu, Hawaii. His least favorites were the two tours he served in Vietnam, one being in the MeKong Delta and one near DaNang.
Jimmie enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1961 and served his country faithfully with courage, honor and pride for 20 years, retiring in January 1981 as a Sergeant First Class at Ft. Stewart, Georgia in the 3rd Engineering Battalion.
After retiring from the Army, Jimmie started a second career as a long distance semi truck driver, hauling hazardous materials. He was an owner-operator with McKenzie tank lines. Most of his runs were to the state of Oregon and Montreal, Canada. He loved this career and affectionately called his rig "Big Red". Jimmie and Big Red loved the challenge of always trying to beat his time from previous runs. After suffering a heart attack in 2000, he had to retire a second time.
He is survived by his sons, William Mark Trawick (Sharyn) and Matt Trawick. Also his sisters, Yvonne Minton, Paulette Williamson and Priscilla Griffith. Also several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Jimmie is predeceased by his parents Lewis T. and Essie Lee Trawick, his son, Timmie Trawick and his grandson, Brad Trawick.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel at 11:00AM. A celebration of life will follow at 12 noon.
Interment will be at Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery with Bayview Fisher-Pou and Chaplain Jason Adams officiating.
In lieu of flowers, if you so desire, a donation in Jimmie's honor to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. The two charities Jimmie supported are Disabled Veterans of America and Wounded Warriors Project.
