She was born on January 20, 1960, in Houston, Texas. In her early years, Marilyn moved with her family to Pensacola while her father was stationed in the Navy, before settling in Griffin, Georgia, where she grew up and graduated school.
Marilyn dedicated many years of her life to working with Winn-Dixie, where she built her career across the produce, seafood, and meat departments, eventually becoming a manager in those areas. She later transitioned into work as a merchandising representative for multiple brands. She took pride in her work and the relationships she built along the way.
As a child and young adult, Marilyn loved horseback riding and spending time with family and friends. That love for connection stayed with her throughout her life. She found joy in the simple, meaningful things—fishing and crabbing with her parents, her son, and later her grandchildren, making memories that will be cherished forever.
Marilyn was drawn to the Gulf Coast by her love for the beach. She found peace in the rhythm of the water, often enjoying a piña colada or a cold beer in the evening sun, watching the tides roll away.
She was the kind of person you could always count on. Marilyn was endlessly giving, always there for family and friends no matter the cost, and would truly give the shirt off her back to anyone in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry Max Jones and Martha Jean Reese Jones, whom she adored.
She is survived by her son, Quentin Paulsen, and his wife, Milissa; and her beloved grandchildren, Leandra Lobo, Maya Peña, Roman Paulsen, Ophelia Paulsen, and great granddaughter Aliana Lobo.
Marilyn will be remembered for her generous heart, her love for her family, and the quiet, steady way she showed up for the people she loved.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday April 26, 11am, at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel in Pensacola, FL.
