Marion Leo Price

Marion L. “Sonny” Price went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 03, 2017. He was born in Mobile, Alabama to Willie Mae Piper and Robert Benjamin Price on November 28, 1932. He grew up in Mobile and San Antonio, Texas and returned to Mobile where he met and married Annie Marie Wright in 1950.

Sonny joined the U.S. Marine Corps in late 1950 and was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone, Camp Lejeune, N.C. and NAS Pensacola; during which time he drove for General “Chesty” Puller, General Snedeker, and Admiral Doyle among others.

After his discharge from the Marine Corps in 1960, he drove briefly for a local LP Gas Company, and then retired from Ryder with over 20 years of service. He enjoyed flying his grandchildren in his 1948 Stinson airplane, which he piloted for many years. Sonny was an active member of Milestone Baptist Church since 1958.

He is survived by his wife Marie Price; two sons, Marion L. “Bo” Price, Jr. (Kathy) and Richard Price (Shirley); six grandchildren, Cassie Gilmore (Zac), Jacob Price (Bonnie), Margaret Christiansen (Mike), Allison Gersonde (Griffin), Dylan Price (Andrea) and Claire Martinez (Ernesto); and ten great grandchildren, two sisters, Susie Gungoll of Enid, OK, and Jodie Taylor of Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, grandmother, grandfather and two uncles.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 06, 2017 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with Pastor James Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., Wednesday.
