Mary Louise Littlejohn, 84, surrounded by her loving family, went peacefully to be with the Lord, May 19, 2011. Louise was born in Granite City, Illinois on April 5, 1927 to Estell Eugene and Flossie Lola Johnson. Born into a family of eight children and coming through the depression helped form so many wonderful character traits that those who were blessed to know her greatly benefitted from-Family Is Important, Hard Work is Honorable, Living Within Your Means Is Commendable, Helping Others Is Rewarding. On September 22, 1945 she married Jim Littlejohn, the love of her life for over 65 years. As a Navy wife Louise travelled from duty station to duty station supporting Jim, taking care of their children, and making sacrifices for our nation. We as her children are grateful for such a mom. Settling finally in Pensacola they moved to the country with 5 acres to enjoy a sweet life. Mom loved mowing on her own riding lawnmower, cooking and canning vegetables from the garden, and for fun she loved playing Scrabble and doing puzzles, but her greatest love and joy was the love she had for God and for her family! In April of 1964 Mom received Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour and for the rest of her life she served God with all of her heart. She loved to go to church, read her bible, and pray. People always wanted to get on Mom’s prayer list! No matter the trial, she had complete faith and trust in God! She has left us such a Godly heritage. She loved her family unconditionally, was always helping, encouraging, listening, and in our failures forgave us and cheered us on. Louise was preceded in death by her father and mother, Estell Johnson and Flossie Roark, brothers, Wesley Johnson and Richard Holtmann, sister, Delores Pounders, and precious daughter-in-law, Suzie Littlejohn. Those left to cherish her sweet memory are, her loving and devoted husband, Jim Littlejohn, her daughters, Sherry Wigen, Sheila McGaughey (Jim), and her son Jimmy Littlejohn, brothers, Bob Johnson (Betty), Bill Johnson (Marie), sisters, Dorothy Joslin (Richard), Diane McBride, a step brother, Albert Roark (Grace), 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, many nieces, nephews, and precious friends. To those who held our mother up in prayer, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Our family would like to thank Dr. Ruby, Dr. Erickson, and all of the kind staff of Gulf Breeze Hospital for their love and care of our mother, and it is with the deepest gratitude and heartfelt love our family wants to thank and acknowledge Dr. Anita Westafer who has cared for our mother and entire family for so many years. Thank you for investing hours, using your gift, and loving Mom as your own. There is no way to repay you.
