My Great Aunt Mary was a beautiful woman.  I would visit her and my Uncle Tony every year since i was just a young boy.  Visiting them was always a highlight of my annual trips to Florida.  My own grandmother and grandfather (Dorothy and Pasquale Parisi) always saw to it that a visit was arranged either with us traveling to them or them to us.  Each trip had my Great Uncle Tony sharing stories of his experiences during WWII and my great Aunt Mary wagging a finger at him and telling him to hush (and getting him to do so was no easy task).  His love for her was immeasurable.  Seeing their interactions was wonderful and hearing him call her “my darling” was so sweet.  
Mary was a wonderful cook and needless to say, there was much love shared around her table.  The meals she prepared and served were delicious, but what i will always remember most fondly are the laughs we shared in her presence.  
On one of my last visits before her husbands passing, I brought my baby boy to meet them.  I recall her asking to hold my son Liam Pasquale.  She held him in her arms and simply gazed into his eyes for no less than 10 minutes.  As she held him, she spoke softly to him telling him how precious he was, pulling him close to her heart and gently kissing his forehead.  I mention this because this memory has never left me.  As i said, visiting my Great Aunt Mary was always a highlight of my summer visits to Florida.  She always hugged me as if there would be no tomorrow and in doing so, I always felt special and loved.  
Aunt Mary, I hope you always knew how much you were loved!  I pray that one day we will meet again, but until that day, i hope and pray that you are back in the arms of my Great Uncle Tony.  I can still hear him calling for his “Darling”!
