Mike was lifelong resident of Pensacola, having left the area only briefly to attend Clemson University on a Basketball scholarship. He returned to Pensacola and was employed at Chemstrand/Monsanto/Solutia until his retirement.
In his younger days, Mike was an avid sportsman and excelled at several sports while in high school and in college. His passion continued into adulthood, coaching youth baseball and football at Myrtle Grove and Bellview Community parks where he nurtured the enthusiasm of all the lives he touched. He maintained contact with many of these players long after they left the field.
Mike was intrigued with genealogy and family history. He spent many hours researching and forming a most impressive family tree going back decades.
Mike is preceded in death by his mother Grace Mildred Grissett, father Walter Lee Grissett, sister Jeanne Nobles, and his brother Walter “Buz” Grissett.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Grissett, son Ken Grissett (Willy), brothers Paul Grissett (Paulette), Steve Grissett, sisters Louella Grissett, Martha Grissett, Debra Kauphusman (Jerry) and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the team in the Sacred Heart Intensive Care Unit and the Hospice facility for their compassion and care extended to Mike throughout his stay.
It is also the wish of this family to share the importance of Covid prevention and early diagnosis to prevent the spread of this virus and heart wrenching conclusion that they are experiencing.
