

Moraima Perez, age 97 of Pensacola, FL, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2016. She was born in Santiago Dominican Republic and immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island in 1934. Moraima married Pedro Perez and they moved throughout their life together in various places including New York, California, Mexico, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and finally settled in Pensacola, FL in 1980. Moraima was a devoted wife, mother and grand-mother and great-grandmother. She was very creative in her sewing. She loved gardening and beautiful flowers, especially her collection of African Violets and Hydrangeas. After moving to Pensacola, Moraima became very active in the community. Included in her memberships were the Pensacola Garden Club; New Comer’s Club and the Pensacola Bridge Club, where she was an avid Master Bridge player. She volunteered at the Pensacola Art Museum and West Florida Hospital as a “Sunshine Lady”. Her residence since 2009 was in Azalea Trace in Pensacola. Mrs. Perez was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Pedro. She is survived by her daughters: Virginia McNamara and husband, Tim of both Pensacola, FL and St. Louis, MO; Mary Lancaster and husband, Sam of Cary, NC; Five grandchildren: Debbie Kriegshauser, and husband, Jim; Andrea Jersa, and husband, Michael; Rob Greene; Kelly Penninger, and husband, Brian; Lisa Greene; Six great-grandchildren: J. J. Kriegshauser; Madison Kriegshauser; Natalie Jersa; Colin Jersa; Anna Penninger and Cassidy Penninger. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2016 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. The funeral service will be at the funeral home at 2:00pm with entombment following in Bayview Memorial Park. Officiating will be Father Doug Halsema. The family will be hosting a reception at the funeral home immediately following the services. Pallbearers will be Colin, Sam, Tim, Jim, Michael, Madison and Natalie.
