Myra Jayne Majors Walters Thummel went to be with the Lord on February 21, 2024. She was born on July 31, 1933 in Pensacola, Florida. Jayne was a member of Calvary Way Full Gospel Church in Pensacola.
She was the daughter of F. R. Majors and Leona Baker Majors. Jayne was married to Ralph J. Thummel.
In her young adult life she worked as a nurse, serving for a number of years as an OR scrub nurse for Dr. Williams Rundles. Throughout her entire life her main vocation and avocation was music. Her musical talent was a true gift from God. With no formal training whatsoever Jayne was proficient on the piano, the organ, stringed instruments, brass instruments, as well as having a beautiful singing voice. Through the years she played and sang for several churches and entertained thousands in non-church performances.
Jayne was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty Majors Garrett; and son, William Clyde Lewis, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph J. Thummel; daughter, Myra Lynn Lewis Whitmore and husband, Ralph Whitmore. Also surviving Jane are her grandchildren, Michael Brad Kireta and wife Heather Kireta, KK Kireta Metz and husband Brandon Metz, William Burt Lewis, Ashley Rose Lewis Tubbs and husband Daniel Tubbs; ten great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with Reverend G. M. Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
