Oliver F. Rushing

2/9/1922 – 10/29/2012

Oliver Frank Rushing, Sr., 90, of Gulf Breeze, Florida passed away Monday, October 29, 2012.

Oliver was born on February 9, 1922 in Prattville, Alabama. He was a retired Air Force Major and served in World War II and the Korean War. He spent 20 years with Sears Roebuck and 20 years in the insurance business. Oliver was a member and deacon at East Hill Baptist Church in Pensacola. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family.

Oliver was married to his wonderful wife, Frances, for 69 years. They met each other at age 15 in Prattville. He was quarterback and captain of his High School football team. Oliver graduated from the University of Alabama in 1949.

Oliver is survived by his wife, Frances, two sons, Rick (Sandra) and Frank along with four grandchildren; Blake (Amber), Chase, Lauren and Liz (James).

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2012 at Bayview Memorial Park on Scenic Highway 98 in Pensacola. Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the "Wounded Warrior Project" to help with our military Heroes or to East Hill Baptist Church.
