

1924 - 2014
R. C. "Rock" Galyean, age 90, of Shelby, Alabama, formerly of Pensacola, Florida, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014. Rock was born on Sept. 23, 1924 in Corinth, Mississippi and was the son of Ben E. and Glendora Farris Galyean. He served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in January, 1946. After serving in the Navy, he worked in Civil Service at the U. S. Naval Air Station in Pensacola. In 1946, Rock joined Pensacola Buggy Works as a new car salesman. He later worked at Jack Leigh Buick before spending approximately 20 years at Bob Salter Chevrolet in Pensacola. After leaving Bob Salter in 1986, he opened Esquire Auto Sales on Pace Blvd. where he enjoyed meeting and serving many friends in Pensacola and the surrounding area until his retirement. After retirement, Rock moved to Shelby Shores Alabama where he developed many close relationships with its loving community. He was of the Episcopal faith. He is preceded in death by his wife, Diana Galyean. He is survived by his loving daughter, Judy Swaney (James) of Shelby Shores Alabama; stepson, Charles Clements (Lynn) of Canton, GA; sister, Alma Pettus of Pensacola; grandson, Paul McMillon of Pensacola; and great-granddaughters, Savannah Grace and Sarah Danielle of Jasper, Alabama. Visitation will be held at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway, Pensacola, FL on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014 from 10-11, followed by the service at 11:00.
