Richard Ray Bathurst

Richard Ray Bathurst, a lifelong resident of Pensacola, Florida and one of the legendary Warrington Boys, departed this life for his heavenly home on May 30, 2025. He was born on December 8, 1946, and lived a life marked by courage, devotion, and unwavering commitment to his family, country, and community.

Richard proudly served his country as a U.S. Army paratrooper with the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry during the Vietnam War. A decorated combat veteran, he was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. "NO SLACK" was more than a battle cry- it was the creed by which he lived his life: with grit, loyalty and honor.

For 56 years, Richard was the devoted husband of LInda Reece Bathurst. Together, they raised two daughters, Shannon Bathurst (Chris) and Shawn Ferguson (Bill), who carry on his legacy of strength and love. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren and one great grandchild, each of whom brought joy to his later years.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved son Richard Jr., his parents, Howard and Thelma Bathurst; one brother; and two sisters. Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in the promise of reunion.

Richard spent his professional life in the automotive industry, known for his integrity and work ethic. He retired from Centennial Imports in Pensacola, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and friendship among colleagues and customers alike.

A Visitation will be held Thursday 06/05/2025 from 3:00 PM - 4:00PM, followed by a Memorial Service from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Both services will be held at Oaklawn Funeral Home on Navy Boulevard. Richard will be laid to rest with military honors at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola NAS.
