

Richard was born February 5, 1942 in Brooklyn NY to Silas Aubrey Cross and Phyllis Bellamacina. He has one brother, Silas Cross of Pensacola and a son Scott Silas Cross of California.
Richard lived in New York until 13 years of age, then moved to Pensacola where he attended Pensacola High School, graduating in 1960. He worked for Bosso Williams, then Carol Construction. Upon joining the US Marine Corp Reserves, he served 7 years, attaining the rank of SGT. before being honorably discharged. He began working at St. Regis, now International Paper, for 35 years as a Millwright/Welder and then Training Maintenance Director until his retirement in 2007.
Richard and Joyce loved to travel all over the US and Hawaii, and also spent time with home projects. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Pensacola, volunteering with Samaritan Hands, Back Pack Buddies, and was an usher and greeter at the church until his health prevented him.
Richard is preceded in death by his father Silas A. Cross and mother Phyllis B. Cross, cousin and best friend Lee Jones and wife, Faye.
Survived by his loving wife of 36 years and best friend, Joyce; son, Scott Silas Cross; brother, Silas Cross; son, Ronnie Tibbs (Kammi); daughter, Sonja Roberts (Hayward); 4 grandchildren, Rebecca Leigh McMillen (Karl), Carmen Melia Schepper (Wade), Morgan Ann Burkett (Matt), Holden Vincent Tibbs (Natalie) and 6 great-grandchildren; cousins, Mary Lormand (Ray), Ray Duckworth (JoAnn), Charlie Duckworth (Donna), Toni Diane Miles (Steve).
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Bayview Fisher Pou Chapel from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 02, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in Pleitz Chapel at First Baptist Church of Pensacola with Dr. Barry Howard officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
