Robert M. Heck, Sr. (Bob), 79, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on September 9, 2013.
Bob was born in Hawthorne, NJ on May 6, 1934 to Martin David Heck and Edna Toll Heck. He graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1951 and immediately joined the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Navy in 1955, Bob continued his education and went on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from Rutgers University, where he was a member of the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Donald Heck, and a sister, Irma Huncik.
Bob was married to the love of his life, Milbra (Millie) Sparks Heck, on June 24, 1955; they were married for 58 years. He was a pharmacist from 1961 through the present, having worked at various drug stores in New Jersey and Florida. For the majority of his career he worked as a district supervisor for Revco Drug Stores. He was an active member of the Escambia County Pharmaceutical Association.
Bob enjoyed being involved in his children's sports and extracurricular activities. He and Millie were active members of the Woodham High School Quarterback Club for many years. He also loved and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Millie; a son, Robert M. Heck, Jr. (Angie), of Midlothian, TX; three daughters, Patti Waters (Kevin), Donna Khork, both of Pensacola, and Jenna Choe (Young) of Sterling, VA; six grandchildren, Mallory (David) Forte, Rachel Heck, Caitlyn and Jacob Waters, and Julia and Jessica Choe; and one great-grandson, Jackson Forte.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13, 2013 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, with services immediately following at 7:00 p.m.. The Rev. Don Berry will be officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at Barrancas National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Covenant Hospice or to the American Cancer Society . The family wishes to thank the offices of Dr. James Watkins, Dr. Frank Messina, Dr. Thomas Fitzgerald, Dr. William Belk, and the staff and nurses in the St. Catherine's unit at Sacred Heart Hospital and at the Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Inpatient Residence.
