He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, and graduated with honors and three AA degrees from PJC while working a full-time construction job at 55 years of age. Robert is survived by his wife of over 30 years, Kathy Wansley; sons, Justin (Bianca) Wansley, Willie Wansley, Buck (Jenniffer) Wiseman; daughters, Jenny (Ryan) Toole, Susie (Bo) Nix, Katie (Jason) Towe; the mother of 3 children, Vicki Wansley; grandchildren Mia, Morgan, Anjalena, Gavin, Callie, Asalyn, Julia, Haylee, Tucker, Mason, Micah, Monica, Conor, Sadie, Leeann, Cooper, Reagan, Kayla, Tyler,and Jacy; and great grandchildren, Roman and Charlie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Augustus Wansley, Betty Ruth Applewhite and LJ Jarreau; sister, Patsy Wansley Marshall; and the mother of his oldest son, Judy Wansley. "Wayne" was proud to be the oldest of his 19 Applewhite cousins, and is survived by many of them as well as his Aunt Doris Hays and Uncles Carroll (& Margie), Harold, and Robert Applewhite. There are also numerous other family connections throughout Florida and Mississippi, and nephew Jason Marshall of Utah.
Robert enjoyed adventures on the creek, bonfires, bridge building, family time, Nascar, pile driving, and ramblin' around backroads. He was a member of Central Church at the Flora-Bama (formerly known as Worship on the Water)
