Ronald Keith “Ron” Lockart, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Pensacola, Florida, Ron was a true son of the Gulf Coast — known for his humor, kindness, and lifelong love of the water. Affectionately called the “Pompano King of Pensacola” by the Pensacola News Journal, he was an avid saltwater fisherman whose passion for the sport and stories from the Gulf made him a local legend. Few things brought him more joy than a calm morning tide, a tight fishing line, and good company by his side.
Ron’s larger-than-life personality, quick wit, and big heart left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. Whether he was swapping stories, cheering for his favorite teams, or making someone laugh when they needed it most, Ron had a rare ability to bring people together. He was a natural coach for his family as well — in sports, life, and spirit — always encouraging those around him, guiding with patience, and celebrating others’ successes as if they were his own.
A devoted fan of the Florida State Seminoles and Los Angeles Dodgers, Ron rarely missed a game — his cheers (and occasional colorful commentary) could fill a room. But even more than sports, he took the greatest pride in his family, whose love and accomplishments meant everything to him. His heart overflowed when talking about Mary, his sons, and especially his grandson, Maddox. They were his true team, and he was their biggest supporter.
He shared 46 years of marriage, laughter, and adventure with his wife Mary, the love of his life. Together they were proud members of the Mayoki Indians Mardi Gras Krewe of Pensacola since 1991 and actively involved in Fiesta events and other local organizations that brought the Pensacola community together. Through those decades of involvement, Ron and Mary built countless friendships that became like family.
Throughout his 30-year career as both a barber/stylist and salesman, Ron formed lasting relationships with people from every walk of life. His charisma, humor, and genuine care for others earned him a special place in the hearts of those he served and worked alongside.
Ron was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Nelda Lockart; brothers Jim and Larry Lockart; and sisters Frances Murphy, Gwen Myrick, and Kay Rhodes.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lockart; his sons, Brice Lockart and Keith Lockart (Paige); his grandson, Maddox; his brother, Ricky Lockart (Beth); and his sister, Ann Curry; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Bayview Funeral Home on Scenic Highway in Pensacola, Florida, followed by a celebration of life starting at 12:00 p.m. Graveside services will take place immediately following.
Ron will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and above all, his love for his family. His spirit will live on in every Gulf breeze, every fishing tale shared at sunset, and every laugh that echoes along the waters of the Gulf Coast he loved so much.
