1956 – 2010
Rosemarie “Ree” Long was born Rosemarie Spence in Woodstown, NJ on May 05, 1956. Her father worked for Boeing, which caused her family to live in many places over the years – Seattle, WA, New Orleans, LA, Satellite Beach, FL, Huntsville, AL, then back to Seattle.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1981 from the University of Washington and a Master of Business Administration from Seattle University in 1988, she decided to return to Florida. She met Charles Robert “Bob” Long in Pensacola and they married on January 13, 1996. Ree spent most of her working life in Florida at Pensacola Junior College (now Pensacola State College), becoming Career Connection Coordinator on its Milton campus.
She earned many awards while at PJC/PSC, her most highly-prized being a Golden Apple Award for Teacher of the year. She love being an advocate for students and helping them further their education. She also loved the sun and surf, and her maroon mustang.
Rosemarie is survived by her singularly devoted husband, Bob; her brothers, Mike, Dan and Jack; and three stepchildren, Tom, Butch and Yvette.
In lieu of flowers, the Long family request that memorial donations be made to help establish the Rosemarie Long Scholarship Fund, Pensacola State College Foundation, 1000 College Boulevard, Pensacola, FL 32504.
