Ruth J. Wessel

1941-2017

Ruth J. Wessel was born in Monroe, LA on September 30, 1941. She passed away December 16, 2017 in Hattiesburg, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents: Donald C. Carr, Sr. and Mary Lou Carr. She is survived by her brothers: Donald C. Carr, Jr., John S.Carr and wife Robin and Richard T. Carr; niece: Catherine Carr Hyde and husband Jeff all of Pensacola; her friend and companion Alvin O. (Bud) Herring, Sr. and his family: Alvin O. (Al) Herring, Jr., A.S. (Skipper) Herring and wife Dianna, Reagan Walters and husband Trent and Chance Herring all of Petal, MS; cousins: Sheryl Lynn Bell and husband Steven of Downsville, LA and Linda Walker of Mer Rouge, LA as well as numerous other family members and friends.

Ruth started her career at Florida National Bank in 1959-1980 with a brief break selling real estate in the 70’s. In 1980 she moved to Sun Trust Bank as a teller supervisor in Gulf Breeze before transferring to the main office in Pensacola in 1986 as vault supervisor, where she retired in 2002. She volunteered with Mother Seton Guild at Sacred Heart Hospital for several years. Her working career ended at Loomis, working in the Cash Management Department from 2008-2014. She loved going places and doing things and acquired the nickname of “Roadrunner.”

Visitation for Ruth will be held Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel in Pensacola. Memorial Services will be held Friday, December 22 at 10:00 AM at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Green’s Creek Baptist Church at 711 Old Richton Rd. Petal, MS 39465.
