Terri was born in Lake City, Florida on October 27, 1937, to proud parents, Frank Eugene and Ruth Murray (Norsworthy) Thompson.
Terri is preceded by her late husband, Conrad Jaburg. They were married on December 26, 1957 in West Palm Beach, Florida and their 1st duty station was right here in Pensacola, Florida, where Terri and Con met.
She is the loving mother of 3 adult children, John Scott, Frank Ross (Judy) and Ruth Leigh (Dearden) Jaburg. She was blessed with 3 grandsons, Joshua Scott and John Christian (Monica) Jaburg, & Frank (Heidi) Barnard and 6 Great Grandchildren, Zachary, Elijah, Kinsley and Natalie Jaburg & Brianna & Brayden Barnard.
Throughout her husband's naval career, Terri was very active in the Navy Wives club and Navy Relief. As a commanding officer's wife, she was responsible for maintaining a strong front for the families of the men and women under his command. It takes a very special person to be a Navy spouse and she epitomized the highest standard a partner is held to when “you join” the Navy. Terri never knew how to do anything half-way. Her generosity was legendary within her substantial circle of friends.
After Con's long Naval career and retirement, Terri and Con built their dream house in 1984 and called Perdido Key home. With a sizeable retired military community, they settled right in and became quite active in Perdido Bay United Methodist Church. Terri started the Prayer Shawl Ministry at PBUMC, still going strong today and she organized the publication of the first church cookbook. She was very involved in the running of the church's Redemption Store and on several administrative committees, including finance. She and Con volunteered at the National Naval Aviation Museum. She never met a stranger & many, many people called her friend.
Terri is also preceded by her brother, Richard E Thompson, killed in an automobile accident in San Diego in 1970. Her sister, Cynthia G Clabaugh from San Diego, CA, has been in Perdido Key by her side until her passing. She is also survived by multiple nephews, nieces and cousins. Family always came first.
Please join us for a memorial service, held in the Activity Center at Perdido Bay United Methodist Church on Thursday the 19th of August from 11:30-12:00. Dr. Levi S. Gardner, Executive Pastor, will officiate at the service and at her interment at 1:00pm at Barrancas National Cemetery. Friends & family are welcome at both services.
In lieu of flowers, we, the family, request that the American Heart Association benefit from your caring and love of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and especially friend, Terri Jaburg. It will make her smile...
