It is with profound sadness the Hobbs family announces that on Monday, October 21st, our beloved Preston quietly and peacefully left this world and was ushered through the gates of heaven. Born August 7, 1957, Preston was a lifelong resident of the Florida panhandle. He loved the sea, and in return the sea provided a living for him and his family. After working as a shrimp boat captain for many years, he found a passion in boat building, surfing, and fishing that he carried with him for the rest of his days. He’ll be remembered for his razor sharp wit, magnetic charm, and a personality that was only dwarfed by the size of his heart and love for his family. Preston will be welcomed into heaven by his father, Lester Hobbs and beloved grandmother Jeanette Wilson. He is survived by his son Zacharia Hobbs and daughter Virginia (Ginger) Palesano, mother Virginia Hobbs, sister Belinda Norred, brother Reverend Norbert Hobbs, their respective families, and a countless number of friends and loved ones who will remember him fondly. “A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others.”- L. Frank Baum
Funeral services will be held at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel and Memorial Park on Saturday, October 26th at 2pm CST.
