William "Bill" Jackson "Jackie" Rogers Sr., 75, of Albany, Georgia and Pensacola, went home to be with his Savior on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Covenant Hospice in Pensacola. Bill was born on May 29, 1938 in Albany, Georgia. He attended Albany High School and after high school joined the U.S. Navy in 1959. He served in Vietnam and had the privilege of serving with the Blue Angels from 1975-79, as an Aviation Safety and Survival Gear Engineer and as a crew chief for #5 Blue Angels Sapp and Kirkland. After retiring from the Navy, he worked with Raytheon Corp. from 1995-2004.Bill enjoyed a rich life filled with his loving family and many friends, the reward of a man who lived unselfishly for others.Bill is preceded in death by his father, James A. Rogers, Sr., and his mother, Francis Rozar. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Virginia Gayle Rogers; his sons and daughter, William Jackson Rogers, Jr., Georgiana Reynolds, Daniel Samson Rogers and his wife Elizabeth; eight grandchildren, Ina, Nathaniel, Martin, Elijah, Caleb, Ethan, Isaiah and Will; one great-grandchild, Hannah; a brother, James A. Rogers, Jr., and a sister, Linda Warren; and many nephews and nieces.The funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, New Warrington Road, in Pensacola, with his pastor, George G. Martin officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. There will be a reception at the family home following burial. Oak Lawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with the privilege of arrangements.
