She was born November 16, 1926 in Peoria, a daughter of Roy and Amy Gardiner Applegren.
Surviving are one sister, Eileen Keenan of Morton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and two brothers.
Amy worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 19 years retiring in 1985.
Amy was a kind and giving person who was truly a gentle lady.
Amy pitched her way into history with the All American Girls Professional Baseball League. She was a Charter Member who played as a professional athlete from 1944-1953. She was an integral part of the movie “A League Of Their Own”.
She was of Christian faith.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Rev. Jim Gorby will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Chapel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Springfield.
