Andy F. Gauwitz

He was born Feb. 25, 1927 in Peoria, IL to George P. and Jennie (Krause) Gauwitz. He married Darlene E. Jochims in Churdan, IA on March 28, 1954. She preceded him in death in 1989.

Surviving are his two daughters, Janean (Kevin) Hall of Waseca, MN, Juliann (Don) Quigg of Springfield, IL; five grandchildren, Charity Hall, Brianna Hall, Christian Hall, Erica Hall, and Naomi Quigg; two sisters, Irene Hoeltje and Janet Grebe both of Peoria, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Andy graduated from Woodruff High School in Peoria in 1945. He was a United States Army Veteran, and farmed in Illinois and Iowa before retiring. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria, IL with Rev. Karl Eckhoff officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Further visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson, IA with a Graveside service at 11:30 a.m. at Dawson Township Cemetery in rural Paton, IA.

Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church or to the Lutheran Hillside Village Benevolent Fund in Peoria, IL.
