Carl Robert Hilbert

He was born May 28, 1931 to Carl and Edna (Greening) Hilbert, on the family farm in Monroe County, MO.

He married his high school sweetheart Doris Ann Burditt on August 12, 1950 in Monroe City, MO. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2019. Also preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Wayne Hilbert.

Surviving is his two daughters, Linda Jean Hilbert of Morton and Rebecca Ann (Peter) Grant of Dallas, GA; two grandchildren, Colin Grant of Hampton, VA, and Fiona Grant of Atlanta, GA; one brother, George Hilbert of East Peoria and a sister-in-law, Eugenia Hilbert of Stoutsville, MO

Carl was a graduate of Monroe City High School and worked security at Caterpillar Inc. for 39 years retiring as a Captain in the Security Department. During those years he enjoyed working with a lot of nice people. During those years he also enjoyed playing fast pitch softball in the Caterpillar League and playing golf in the Caterpillar Golf League. Carl and Doris enjoyed traveling and visited all of the lower 48 states, Canada, Mexico and ten european countries.

Carl and Doris were active in the Peoria Camera Club and Carl would give slideshows of the trips they had taken to senior groups in the area. Carl found joy in fixing whatever needed fixing around the home or needed to be built.

Carl was a 60 year member of Grace Presbyterian Church, where he helped with Boys Brigade, served as a programmer for Grace T.V, taught Junior High Sunday School Class, helped with Bible Schools, and served as a Class President of the F.T.F. adult Sunday School Class.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, January 5, 2024 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
