Carolyn Truka

Carolyn was born March 3, 1944 in St. Louis, MO to Carl and Leitha (Minor) Rittner and was the second of their two daughters. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ronald L. Truka and her sister, Sue (Bill) Malone.

Her memory and her love live on through her children, Sherri (Dan) Grant of Glenview, IL and Brian (Rebecca) Truka of Coos Bay, OR and Carolyn's grandchildren, Brayden and Cailyn Grant.

Carolyn earned a Bachelor degree from Southeast Missouri State University and enjoyed a 40 year career as a teacher, primarily at the Montessori School in Peoria and was most passionate about teaching children in Kindergarten/Pre-K.

Her love of dogs was defining and unblemished. A wagging tail and a playful bark warmed her heart, an emblem of the joy and goodness that life offers.

Carolyn’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service at 3:00 PM on Friday, December 19, 2025 at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home, 2408 W. Willow Knolls Drive in Peoria with Pastor David Craig officiating. Memorial visitation will precede the service 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
