He was born Jan. 19, 1954 in Peoria to Richard S. and Eileen Mae (McAllister) Murphy.
Surviving are his mother, Eileen Murphy; daughter, Haley Murphy of Castle Rock, CO; seven siblings, Barry (Carole) Irwin, Rick Murphy, Coleen (Sid) Sibley-Kimball, Brett Murphy, Jeff (Sue) Murphy, Heidi Boddy, Jayme Murphy all of the Peoria area; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and one niece, Kelley.
Chris was as a painter and was currently working at the Hampton Inn in Peoria. He was a diehard Cubs and Bears fan.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria with Rev. Steven Barch officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
