Connie I. Simpson

Connie Simpson, 65, of Dunlap, formerly of Elmwood, passed away peacefully January 22, 2010 in the presence of her family.Born July 29, 1944 in Peoria to Verne and Vivian (Thurman) Kennelly, she married Curtis Simpson June 17, 1966 in Yates City. He survives.Also surviving are: sons, Brent A. (Karen) Simpson of Hampshire, IL and Robert M. Simpson of Chandler, AZ; a brother, Donald (Linda) Kennelly of Yates City; a grandson, Connor Simpson, and many nieces and nephews. She also had a special place in her heart for Kelsey, Kirsten, and Kristina PerkinsonConnie was an elementary school teacher for 35 years, primarily with Elmwood Community School District #322. She was extremely dedicated to each and every class she taught, treating each child as her own. She touched the educational lives of over 800 children during her tenure, proudly following them to adulthood. Many former students frequently insisted that Connie teach their own children. Cremation rites will be accorded. The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 pm Monday January 25, 2010 at Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home, 2408 W. Willow Knolls Dr. Peoria. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday January 26, 2010 at Elmwood United Methodist Church, 821 W. Main St., with Rev. Mark Graham and Rev. Gary Hutton officiating. Interment of cremains will be at a later date.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the Central Illinois Alzheimer’s Association 606 W.
