David George Lohnes

He was born in Peoria, IL on January 12, 1934, to George and Dorothy (Weaver) Lohnes.

Upon graduating from Manual Training High School David went on to get his Bachelors degree at Wartberg College. He then went on to serve in the United States Navy Reserves for 6 years.

He married Audrey Zachgo on July 21, 1955, at St John’s Lutheran Church in Danforth, IL. With his brother Reverend Paul Lohnes marrying them.

He was baptized and confirmed at St Paul Lutheran in Peoria and later joined Living Waters Lutheran Church in Peoria.

He worked at CILCO at the downtown East Peoria Plant and the Edwards Plant in Bartonville for 31 years.

He was an associate member of the Hiram Walker Rod and Gun Club in Farmington. He liked to hunt, fish, loved his garden, and making wine. He also liked to play dart-ball, hand-ball, and travel with his wife.

David is survived by his wife Audrey Lohnes, three children; John Lohnes of Las Vegas, Paul (Cheryl) Lohnes , and Ann (Bill) Caudill of Peoria. Five grandchildren; Crystal, Brandon, Nick, Sean Lohnes, Kyle Caudill, and two great-grandchildren.

Preceded him in death are his parents, one brother Reverend Paul Lohnes and one grandchild Tony DeFord.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday January 13 2018 starting at 11:00 am with a visitation being held an hour prior at Living Waters Lutheran Church in Peoria.

A graveside service will be held at St John's Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria following the services.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Living Waters Lutheran Church in Peoria.
