David G. Pierce

Peoria- David G. Pierce, age 70, of Germantown Hills, passed away Thursday April 10, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. Born March 07, 1944 in DuQuoin, Illinois, he was a son to the late Willard and Alafaire Rice-Pierce. On July 18, 1964 Dave married Susan Gorman in Peoria at The First United Methodist Church. He worked for Caterpillar for 31 years until his retirement in 1994.  Dave was a member of the Izaak Walton League and Sons of the American Revolution (S.A.R), as well as, an active member in Willow Hill United Methodist Church. He enjoyed working as an usher for the Peoria Chiefs, as well as, fishing, playing guitar, studying history, and researching genealogy. Dave will be remembered for his pride of his Cherokee Heritage, and his enjoyment of woodworking, sailing with his wife, snorkeling, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 49 years Susan; two children: Brian (Katrina) Pierce of Ft. Meyers, FL and Wendy (Shawn) Beanblossom of Germantown Hills; five grandchildren: Joshua (Michelle), Jacob (Brittany), and Jared (Brandi) Crosiar, Alexandra and Zachary Beanblossom; 10 great-grandchildren: Anna, Tyler, Bella, Nevaeh, Cristobal, Christopher, Kaiden, Jayden, Kinnedy, and Keeley; one sister Donna (Doug) Thewlis of Ft. Meyers, FL., and several nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held Sunday April 13, 2014 between the hours of 4:00 PM -7:00 PM at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, 2021 North University, in Peoria. Visitation will also take place Monday April 14, 2014 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Pastor Ken Hogren of Willow Hill United Methodist Church will officiate. Cremation rights will follow. Memorials may be made in Dave’s Memory to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
