

Elzie Charles “Chuck” Jenkins, age 85 of Peoria, IL., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 22nd, 2026. He was born on May 17th, 1940, in Peoria, IL to Elzie Jenkins and Shirley Southard. He married Betty (Simmons) Jenkins on July 28th, 1968.
He is survived by his wife Betty Jenkins of Peoria, IL., one sister Linda Kay (Martin) Vasterling of Pekin, IL., one son Daniel (Jill) Jenkins of Green Valley, IL., one daughter Barbara (Burhan) Hamdan of Tucson, Arizona; four grandchildren, Iman (Ryan) Fuller of Tucson, Arizona, Wesley Jenkins of Washington, IL., Brandon (Brittany) Jenkins of Chillicothe, IL., Rema (Jimmy) Barrios of Tucson, Arizona; four great-grandchildren, Calista, Hadley, Quinn, and Josephine.
His parents preceded him in death.
Chuck graduated from Manual High School, class of 1959.
Chuck served his country in the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Turkey during his deployment.
Chuck worked at Caterpillar in Research and Development, instrument repair for 38 years, retiring in 2001.
Chuck loved playing the guitar and he had the special ability to play music by ear. He would hear music and play it perfectly. His favorite artist was Judith Durham from Ireland. He had a passion for Astronomy and Telescopes. He also collected alligators, and his nickname for his wife Betty was “Snoots.” He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and being called GGPA and Grandpa by the great-grandchildren.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel.
Celebration of life will be at a later date.
