Fredrick "Freddy Joe" Joseph George Jr.

He was born Feb. 27, 1941 in Peoria to Fred and Sadie (Couri) George. He married Mary Goujon of Nov. 11, 1967 in Peoria. She passed away Dec. 27, 2010 in Peoria. He is also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Fredrick Joseph George III, and one sister, Judy McClanahan.

Survivors include one sister, Sharon Gough of Peoria, one brother, John (Mary) George of West Peoria, and one grandson, Will Joseph George of Mapleton.

Freddy Joe was a United States Army veteran. He had many occupations in the Peoria area last working at Vice President at D.J. Joseph Construction.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Peoria and later St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church. He was active in many Catholic Churches, including being a member of the Knights of Columbus and Cursillo. He was a member of the Izaak Walton Sports Club in East Peoria and the Itoo Society.

Visitation will be Monday, Sep. 4, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church in Peoria. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sep. 5, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the church. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the church.

Cremation rites will be accorded following the services and a private family inurnment will be in St Joseph Cemetery in West Peoria at a later date.

Memorials may be made to St Jude Midwest Affiliate or St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church.
