

She was born June 17, 1940 in Peoria to James Clyde and Eliza Jane (French) David. She married the love of her life, Richard “Dickie” Van Tine, Sr. on Jan. 31, 1958 at the Church of the Brothers in Peoria Heights. He passed away March 6, 2005 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by three children: Patricia Joy Van Tine, twins: Robert and Robin, three brothers: Edgar, Melvin, Vern David, four sisters: Margaret Corbin, Gladly Welch, Pauline King, Bea Ortley, and one great-granddaughter, Yamila “Mila” VanTine.
Survivors include one son, Alan Van Tine, Jr, four daughters: Tammy Ivy, Paula VanTine, Pamela Donaldson, Kim Van Tine, grandchildren: Alan III, Christopher, Nicole, JD, Amber, Derick, Jade, Jessica, Ashley, Jason, and Cameron. Also surviving are 33 great grandchildren, and three brothers: Leroy David, Red (Bev) David, Willie David, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Garnet was a member of the Church of Brothers in Peoria and worked for many factories in Peoria. She enjoyed many hobbies and camping with her husband and friends. She will be so happy to be reunited with them in the House of Our Lord-Savior. Please don’t grieve for me and be rejoyceful. The family would like to send a special thank you to all of her care givers, Hospice (Amy), her niece - Debbie Gill, Scott Brunson, Suzie Joliff, and Bruce Edmondson. Garnett loved her doggie, Willow, and her adopted doggies, Piper, Jax (her feet warmers), and her kittens, Autumn and Gracie.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will next to her husband, Dick, in Coal Creek Dunkard Cemetery in Norris, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tazewell Animal Protection Society in Pekin.
