He was born on November 1, 1937 in Baxter Springs, KS to George and Linda (Herrmann) Sawyer. He married Judy Herring on February 26, 1976 in Eureka. She survives.
Also surviving is his son, Judd Sawyer of Scio, Oregon, one step-daughter, Theresa (Brad) Johanson of Hanna City; three grandchildren, Adam Johanson of Hanna City, Benjamin Johanson of Fayetteville, NC, and BIllie (Clint) Tibbs of Sparland; three great-grandchildren, one niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-son, Cliff Herring and one brother, Jerry Sawyer.
Jack served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was the Owner of Contractors Carpet Services for over 50 years before retiring. He also owned Smith & Company Carpet Supplies and was a member of Eastside Bible Church in Morton and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Jack enjoyed elk hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
A funeral service will be at 11 am on Friday, May 17, 2024 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Eastside Bible Church in Morton. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
