

He was born April 2, 1917 in Frankford, Missouri to Enoch and Ethel (Henderson) Hostetter. He married the former Catherine “Kaye” Dicks on July 14, 1946.
Bud is survived by his loving family and friends which include; his wife, Kaye Hostetter of Hanna City; his sister, Norma Schermer of Peoria; his sister-in-law, Dolores Hostetter of Peoria; numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly; and his loyal companion, Mitzie the Shih-Tzu.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Curt Hostetter and sisters, Faye Nichoalds and Willa Daniel.
Bud enlisted in the US Army in 1941 and served for the duration of WWII. After the war he went to work for Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years and retired in 1977 after finishing his career in special attachments and operating equipment at the Cat Proving Grounds.
He was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church in Peoria, UAW Local #974 and the Heart of Illinois Pointer & Setter Club.
Bud and Kaye held a deep love for animals of all kinds; providing a home for a variety of four-legged, furry and feathered family members.
Having no children of their own, they loved the children of others as if they were their own. Uncle Buddy was loved more than he could ever know and will remain in our hearts forever.
Bud also enjoyed farming, gardening, woodworking and outdoor sporting activities.
The family would like to express their thanks to Heddington Oaks for the care and love they gave to Bud.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. The family will hold a private funeral following the visitation and will conclude with burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington. The Rev. John E. Murray will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah.
