

He was born on June 12, 1922 in Peoria to Albert and Martha (Hurd) Chesko. He married Darlene L. Wieland on February 28, 1948 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on January 4, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Cecila Wheeler.
Jim is survived by his two children, James “Jim” (Diane) Chesko of St. Charles, IL and Marsha (Rick) VanGrevenhof of Peoria; five grandchildren, Kurt Chesko, Kent (Michelle) Chesko, Karly (Dan) Wilkins, Melissa Masching and Dustin Masching; and seven great-grandchildren, Ella, Emmi and Edison Chesko, Martin and Valerie Wilkins and Dillan and Braydon Masching.
Jim retired from CILCO where he was a supervisor. After retirement he volunteered at Proctor Hospital for 17 years as an escort. He was a WWII United States Army Air Corp Veteran and a member of Amvets 64 and Illinois Lodge 263. Jim was an avid blood donor to the American Red Cross, during his lifetime he gave the equivalent of 31 gallons of blood.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s or Shriners Children Hospital.
