
Jim was born to Dr. J. Malcolm Elson and Glenola (Lockhart) Elson on June 5, 1947 in Peoria.
He is survived by his wife Carol (Alberts), his son Jason (Therese) of Los Angeles, his sister Judith Elson of Palatine, one nephew and two nieces.
He had been a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects; a member and past president of the Illinois chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects; a member and past president of Kiwanis Club of Downtown Peoria; a member and president of Peoria City Beautiful; and first chairman of Peoria’s Walk for Mankind.
He practiced landscape architecture, specializing in land planning and irrigation design for over 40 years in Pittsburgh, PA, and Peoria.
He was a graduate of Peoria High School and the School of Landscape Architecture at Kansas State University with High Honors. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Landscape Architecture Degree (a five year degree equivalent to a Masters).
Cremation rites have been accorded. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
