Died, August 14, 2025
Born February 23, 1954 in Peoria, IL to Roger & Anita (Schuelke) Koch. They both have preceded her in death.
Julie descended from ancestors who were settlers in early South Peoria in the 1860s. – the Kochs, the Verchs, the Rosenbohms.
Julie worked in banking as the manager of Sheridan Bank for 9 years, and then as Chief Financial Officer at Welch Systems for 20 years before retiring.
Julie was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church and generously shared her skills and expertise in accounting and financial knowledge, for many years. She oversaw the accounting of the church offerings (for 30 years) and put into place a computerized accounting procedure which streamlined the accounting process.
Julie also beautifully played the organ for Christ Lutheran, arranging music thoughtfully that reflected the word of the Lord and the Bible readings each Sunday she played. Julie sang in the choir with her strong alto voice. She was a superb musician and shared her love of music.
Julie dearly loved her Siamese cats. She was a superb landscape designer. Her home has a lovely haven in the back looking out onto shrubbery, plants, bird feeders, with blue glass elements and little pathways. It is so peaceful and beautiful. A place to relax and savor being in amongst nature. Julie, was tending to it on the last day of her life.
Julie was organized and her attention to detail was evident in everything she did. Her organization showed up in a marvelous CD she put together of pictures of the family history that she had from her mom and dad. She generously had CDs made up for all of the cousins – which are fondly called the Koch Cousins Network– which originally consisted of 28 first cousins on the Koch side.
Julie was so kind and so willing to help others in any way she could. There are countless times when she stepped into help family and friends.
Her survivors consist of her dear partner of 44 years, Sue Welch, Betty Welch, Dave & Kerri Welch, Kurt & Mary Beth( Welch) Brendon, 4 nephews, 5 great-nieces, 1 great nephew, the Koch cousins, Fritch cousins and Welch cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on September 11, 2025 at Christ Lutheran Church, with a luncheon following. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, or (No-Kill Animal Shelters) – TAPS or SAMS.
Bible Verse… “Fear not for I have redeemed you. I have called you by name. You are Mine. When you pass through the waters I will be with you. When you pass through the rivers they will not overflow, when you walk through the fire you will not be burned. For I am the Lord thy God…You are precious in My sight… You are Mine” Isaiah 43:1-4
