

Linda S. Blakey, known as "Granny”, "Granny Ice Cream", and “Greatma”, age 72, of Peoria entered into eternal rest at 5:43 AM on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, surrounded by her family.
She was born on November 23, 1949 in Peoria, IL to Robert and Alsace Lorraine (McCaulley) Blanch.
She married Everett “Brent” Blakey on September 23, 1979 in Peoria. He survives.
Linda is also survived by her children, Stephanie (Benjamin) Mitchell, Stephen (Heather) Souba, Shane (Laura) Souba and Aaron Blakey all of Peoria; grandchildren, Sasha Moredock, Ryan (Meghan) Moredock, Aniyah Bennett, Minor (Stephanie) Hilliard, Draven Souba, Morgan Hilliard, Shauna Souba, Jayden Souba, Stellan Souba, Selleck Souba, Alec Souba, Christian Off, Abigail Off, Elle Off and Ethan Off; 8 great-grandchildren, Amari, Alijah, Amir, Bella, Aspen, Andres, Lillie, and Harper; siblings, Pat Defreitas, Janice (Dean) Morgan, Sandy (Gene) Williams, Sherry Covarrubias, Susan (Wayne) Morrison, Bobby (Rita) Blanch and John (Nancy) Cook; many nieces and nephews; and her special friend Kathy Mandela.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marsha Spiller and Nancy Cook; and brothers, Ronnie Cook, Daniel Cook, and Marion Blanch.
Linda retired from Prometric and worked for the Book Emporium for many years. She was a member of Riverside Community Church. She was a true servant of the Lord and witnessed every day. She was a devoted Christian and unwavering in her faith. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family and spending time with them.
Linda touched many hearts and lives, as she was a foster parent to many children. She was a kind and generous soul who loved life and everyone in it. She loved to cook and spend time on game night with family and friends. She was a big whirlwind in a small body.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria with funeral services to follow at 4 p.m. Pastor John King will officiate.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
