

Louis Eugene Carr was welcomed into the arms of his Savior on Saturday, November 21, 2015. He was born May 16, 1924, in Marion, Indiana, the son of the late Earl and Anna Carr. He was also pre-deceased by his sister Ruth.
He served as a medic in the U.S. Army during WWII, and graduated from Purdue University with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1949.
Louis was happily married to Elaine Schoessow Carr of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for 67 years. He leaves behind four children: Cynthia of NYC, Joanne (David) Brown of Detroit, Paul (Jeanne) of Chicago, and Christine of Denver. He has four grandchildren: Ben (Clare) Brown, Marissa Brown, Isabelle Carr, and Jeremy Carr. He also has twin great-grandsons: Jonah and Isaac Brown.
Louis worked throughout his professional career as an engineer, most notably for WABCO and its successors, where he was employed for almost 30 years.
Louis was elected as an alderman to the Peoria City Council from 1969 through 1973. In addition, he served as a Republican precinct committeeman, ward captain, and chairman of the second Ward Republican Club. In 2006, he received a Proclamation from the Office of the Mayor of Peoria for his dedicated service to the community.
Louis was an aviation enthusiast and maintained a private pilot’s license for 35 years. He helped to organize the Illinois Valley Aviation Association and was chairman of Peoria’s Experimental Aircraft Association. Louis was well-known within the community for building an experimental singe engine airplane in his own garage.
He served in the Redeemer Lutheran Church in many capacities—including elder, church council member, and Bible class instructor. He authored two publications: “Our Christian Heritage” and “Advent of our Lord.”
In 1992, Louis organized the Tri-County Christian Coalition and in 2000 became the editor of a quarterly newsletter, CHECKPOINT, published by a group that advocates for traditional family values and reaches 5,000 addresses in the Tri-County area. In 2011, he received the Golden Eagle Award from CHECKPOINT.
Louis was also an adventurer, world traveler, Bible scholar, and historian who inspired many.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home on Willow Knolls Rd. Pastor Ted Benson will officiate.
Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery .
