Mardell M. (Hunziker) Plattner

Mardell M. (Hunziker) Plattner, 92 of Peoria, went Home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. She was born June 19, 1933 in Peoria, a daughter of Albert and Helen (Sauder) Hunziker. She married Melvin R. Plattner on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1954 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2022.

Also preceding her were her parents; brothers, Dale (Barbara) Hunziker and Albert (Virginia) Hunziker, Jr; and her sister, Ardith (Harold) Herrmann.

Surviving is her son, Kevin (Karen) Plattner of Peoria; two grandsons, Brandon (Muang) Plattner and Dr. Dustin Plattner; and her brother, Willis (Gloria) Hunziker.

Mardell graduated from Woodruff High School in Peoria and was a member of the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church. She was a dedicated homemaker and a devoted wife, mom and grandma who deeply loved her family and church friends. She was content in simple things like taking walks when she would talk with Jesus while lifting others up in prayer.

She is remembered for being warm and welcoming to everyone she met. She loved the animals who would visit her backyard and many of them she would train to eat from her hand as if they sensed her gentle kindness.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home, 2408 West Willow Knolls Drive in Peoria with visitation one hour prior to the service beginning at 9:00 am. Burial will follow the funeral at the Peoria Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery near Edwards.
