She was born on September 25, 1923 in Russia to Fyodor and Anastasia Makarov. She married Victor Sluz in 1943 and he preceded her in death on April 18, 1968 in Davenport, Iowa. She was also preceded in death by her son, Nickolaus Sluz Sr. and grandson Nickolaus Sluz Jr.
Maria is survived by her granddaughters, Nina (Douglas Rebinsky) Sluz of Peoria and Anna Sluz of Ouzinkie, Alaska.
Private services will be held.
Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church.
