Mary Ann Kaplan

Mary Ann was born on January 1,1939, in Peoria, Illinois, to Rudolph and Josephine (Maroney) Saccenti.

She was a lifelong resident of Peoria, graduated from the Academy of Our Lady, and attended Bradley University. Mary Ann worked as a fourth-grade teacher before marrying Robert (Bob) Lewis Kaplan on May 28th, 1960. Mary Ann and Bob had two children, David and Katharine. Mary Ann helped build several real estate businesses with her husband. She enjoyed volunteering at Peoria Humane Society, the Alzheimer's Association, and Wildlife Prairie Park. She was a member of Anshai Emeth in Peoria

Mary Ann will be remembered for her love of animals, her playful personality, and her steadfast selflessness and generosity. She was a caring and loving mother, a devoted grandmother, and a beloved friend. Mary Ann loved to make others laugh, even throughout her long battle with Alzheimer’s.

She is survived by her children, Katharine (Kaplan) Peña of Downers Grove, IL and David Kaplan (Kimberly) of St. Augustine, FL, and her grandchildren, Aaron and Daniel Kaplan of St. Augustine, FL, Isabel Peña of Brooklyn, NY and Ava Peña of Peoria, IL, her brother Thomas Saccenti (Judy) and Sister Toni Jo Armstrong (Gerry) as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert.

A memorial service will be held on August 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
