Mattie Azzilee Russell

She was born on January 18, 1927 in Guntersville, Alabama to Leon and Versie (Davenport) Williams. She married Eric Mathew Russell on April 5, 1947 in Iuka, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on October 15, 1992. Her parents, three brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her four children, Larry (Becky) Russell of East Peoria, Jimmy (Wendy) Russell of East Peoria, Tommy (Sue) Russell of Bartonville, and Lynette (Brian) Kilgore of Hanna City, ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Azzilee worked in many occupations through the years, but being a mother to her four wonderful children was her favorite job. She always put family first and planned many big family get togethers. Azzilee loved to travel, read, and plant flowers and was a very proud, strong willed woman, who at the age of 65 learned to drive.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 25, 2010 from 5 to 8 pm at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 10:00 am at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
